Registration and Study Fees



1) Enrolment for individual courses

  • Enrol for courses two weeks before the course begins
  • Go through the list of current Open Studies courses
  • Fill in the required information and pay online.
  • Remember to enrol separately for each course.

Course enrolment is always binding in terms of the payment. Thus, failure to start studies or interruption of studies is no excuse for refund or neglect of payment.

Students are admitted to courses in the order of registration. About one week before the course begins, the participants will receive a confirmation by email. The course will only be carried out, if there are enough participants. In case of cancellation, the participants will be notified by email.

2) Enrolment for Study Path Programmes

Registration periods for Study Path Programmes are in August and in November/December.

Study Fees

1) Individual Courses and ISP (individual study plan) students

  • 1 credit = EUR 10
  • 2 credits = EUR 20
  • 3 credits = EUR 30
  • etc.
  • 12 credits or more = EUR 120/semester The fee of EUR 120 entitles you to take any number of Open Studies courses during one term (autumn and spring periods).

2) Study path programme students

  • EUR 240 per academic year

Students paying Open UAS fees will be charged with degree education tuition fees as they have the eligibility to apply for degree studies (pathway students), i.e. as they have fully completed one year of studies.

According to the legislation from 1 January 2016 Universities of Applied Sciences are to charge tuition fees from students who are not citizens of countries of the European Union (EU) or the European Economic Area (EEA), and who starting their studies 1 August 2017 and onwards. The law on tuition fees applies to the degree programmes in English. If you are a Finnish citizen, you are not required to pay tuition fees. At Karelia UAS, in the Degree Programme in International Business the tuition fee is 5 500 euros for a study year. The tuition fee for the completed 3.5-year’s bachelor’s degree is 22 000 euros.
